Today we celebrate Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar’s birth anniversary. To mark the occasion, we have organized this ‘Run for Equality’. I am here to flag it off. I have dressed myself as if I am a running coach or as a former runner. But I must say here that I have never been a runner in my life. Now I have no energy left to follow you all even from far behind. I am here to give a pat on the back of the youngsters who are going to run. I must do this because this run is for a cause. You are running for equality. My dear young runner friends, let it be known to you that today you must run faster than ever before. Faster you must run in your ‘run for equality’ because inequality is galloping like a mad horse. It has run too far already. Activist and thinker Yogendra Yadav who has been giving a sense of direction to this entire nation was in Mysore a couple of days ago. He said something which is worth recollecting here: He said: India’s Prime Minister Modi chants the name of Sitapati, i.e., Lord Rama India’s Prime Minister Modi keeps in his heart Nitapati, i.e., Ambani This Ambani who resides in the heart of India’s Prime Minister Modi owns lakhs of crores. The wealth of a few hundred billionaires like him is equal to half of the entire country’s wealth. At the same time, the number of the poor in India has been increasing by the day. This is the kind of inequality this country has. A jockey intoxicated by hate, intolerance and communalism is riding this mad horse of inequality. The mad horse is running helter-skelter. Now you must take care while running so that the mad horse doesn’t bite you. You are young. You will win. And you must win.
